A Lesson in Losing

"March Madness" just finished a couple of weeks ago and for those of you that don't know, it is by far my most favourite sports time of the year.  I absolutely love to watch college basketball in March and this got me thinking (go figure eh?) about this week's blog question.

Of the 64 teams in the tournament, all of the teams will lose a game except the tournament champion (yeah Kentucky!).  Do you think you learn more from winning or from losing?  Why?

Once you have posted your response, read the responses posted by your peers and reply thoughtfully to at least two other students.  Compliment strong points, make connections, ask questions and build on ideas shared!

Mr. Boettger  :-)

I think you learn more from losing because you are going to lose a lot in life and if you lose trying your best you can look in the mirror and know that there was nothing else you could have done.
You do learn more from losing but one huge thing you do learn from winning is HARD WORK PAYS OFF!!! As my hockey coach said "The price of success is hard work" and that is not just for hockey!

I think you learn more form loosing because when you loose you learn that you need try harder and practice more in order to win. You also learn what you need to improve on for your next game.

I think you learn a bigger lesson from losing because you learn from your mistakes. By losing you know you have to improve so right away you are learning something.

i think you learn from winning because you learn that you/ your team are good at something. but you have to remember to be a good sport and say to the other person/ team its okay.
    losing

I disagree that you learn more from winning because seeing that your good isn't really learning something.

I think i learn more from loosing although i hate to say it i do. I learn what i did wrong what i messed up. What did the winner do that i didn't. It helps me improve the things i do so next time maybe i could win.

I think that you learn more from losing then from winning because if you win you don't take the time to look back at your mistakes, you are to busy celebrating. The losing team is to busy pointing fingers that they also don't reflect on their mistakes so they put all the blame on one person and don't realize to pay attention to what the winning team did that could improve them but they don't realize it.

  13. I think losing teaches us more because you can see what you can improve on next time and also helps you with character traits like congratulation the other team on winning instead of making excuses up that they cheated or that the teams aren't fair etc...

In my opinion I think that you learn more from losing for example in gymnastics not getting in the top places may be disappointing but before you watched the winning people and how hard they worked and preformed and you should see that what you should do next time

I think I would learn more from losing because, when you win I am always exited and I think I am good I don't need to work on anything but when I lose I think of stuff I can fix.

hope to be back soon ! ! !

I think you learn more in life from losing then winning because when you loose you know how it feels and if you just win win win all of the time then you wouldn't know how it feels to loose. i also think this because when you loose that means you just need to keep trying and set yourself more goals in life. for example when i played volley ball for sure i didn't win all of the time and when i lost that made me wanna work harder on my skills and keep trying.
