Epic

Epic is an upcoming 3D computer animated film loosely based on William Joyce's children book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. The movie tells the story of a young girl named Mary Katherine, who lives in a cabin in the woods with her father and dog. One day, while out searching for her father, Mary Katherine happens upon a group of glowing, falling leaves. She catches one of the leaves and is shrunken down. In her new minuscule state, she discovers a group of warriors, known as the Leafmen. Mary Katherine works with the Leafman as they fight the Boggans and their villainous leader Mandrake to save their miniature world and, in the process, saves the real world.

Watch the trailer below and then answer the following question:

Epic features a miniscule world where the residents depend on and defend the forest. Writers and filmmakers often try to create thought-provoking stories to help shine a light on a variety of important issues in our society. What message(s) do you think the filmmakers are trying to share with this story?

i think the message of the story is that you dont always have to see things for things to be real. i think this because in the beging of the trailer the girl did not think the little forest people were real because you could not see them but towards the end she realized they are real.

The message the author is trying to get through "just because you haven't seen anything, doesn't mean it's not there". What this means is that if you don't beleive in something just because you haven't seen doesn't mean it's not real.

I think that's it too. You can't see a lot of things, but they're still there.

I think that this storys main idea is trying to bring out that there is nature out there and when there was the war against the leaf men and the people that wanted to destroy it. This is like today, everyone is littering and its like the bad people in the war because if we keep littering and causing global warming there won't be any leaf men to save us.

  5. I think the message the filmakers are trying to share with the audience is to take care of the forest and to be nicer to people now matter what they look like because that is the right thing to do. i know this because i have seen the movie and at the end the commander of the leafmen tries to be nice and reason wih the bad guy but obviously the bad guy is bad and still doesnt care.

I think that the message is that just because you can't see something doesnt mean it's not there. For example, for all we know fairies really could exist and nobody can see them.

Since Ive never seen this movie, I dont know much about it.
But from what I know, the main idea that the flimmakers/ people who had something to do with the making of the movie, is Mary and the leaf men and trying to protect the forest from the bad and to also save the world after. The boggans are trying to fight against them, they are the bad. Mary and the leafmen will do what they need to to save the land.

i think that the film makers are trying to say that we need to keep our earth clean so we all can keep living here and that "just because you havent seen anything dosent mean its not there"

I think that the message is that just because you don't see something doen't mean it's not there because thier are lot's of things we believe in and we don't see. For example Santa Clause or the Tooth Fairy.

I think that the message of the story is that you should believe in whatever you want, others may not believe but you should. You'd be surprised on what is really out there.

I think that the message that the flim makers are trying to get across is that sometimes is it is important to belive in what people tell you because sometimes what is really true and another message is that the tiny people are try to keep are forest clean and green and the message is to keep it green or else everything cold possible die.

i think that the story is trying to tell us that we should be nice to the forests and bushes and we shouldnt litter because Epic is kind of like us we are tryig to destroy the forests and bushes and the leaf men are trying to get us to stop.

  17. i think the message the filmakers are trying to send us is just because you dont see it doesn't mean you shouldn't belive it and if you belive something never stop trying

I think that the message of that film is to respect nature because nature is in danger and we may die. Another reason is if you can't see it doesn't mean it is not real.

I think that the messages the filmaker is trying to share is, don't ever belive that something alot of people dont think is real isnt real. If you belive in something never stop. And don't let anybody ever tell you differently. It's not just beliving in forest creatures it could be in global warming and you could think if we don't stop littering the world will be really bad a lot sooner than it would if we stopped now.

I think the messages the filmmakers are trying to share with this story are that anything is possible because Mary Katherine gets shrunken down and helps tiny warriors called the Leafmen fight Boggans and that usually doesn't happen. Another message I think the filmmakers are trying to share is to believe what you want because Mary Katherine's dad believes there are tiny warriors called the Leafmen protected the forest and there is. Thirdly, just because you can't see something, doesn't mean its not there because no one could see the Leafmen but they were there. Lastly, in the war between good and evil, good always wins because the Leafmen and the Boggans were evil and the Leafmen won. Those are the messages I think the filmmakers are trying to share with this story.
